DATELINE—U.S.: How Will You Know?
By Jonathan Tasini
|
It’s pretty much a mystery, if you survey the landscape around the world: what do those promised “green jobs”, the jobs that millions of workers who will lose jobs to de-carbonization are being told to expect, pay?
Hard to know except through random anecdotes.
Which might be, then, a reason to press for similar legislation on the books in four U.S. states:
Starting Tuesday, companies with at least four workers that post a job that may be performed in New York City will be required to include salary ranges, whether they advertise jobs online, in a job fair flier or on internal bulletin board. Similar laws for job ads have been enacted in Colorado, California and Washington State.
Knowledge is power–or, at least, a start of coming up with the right bottom line “high bar” Just Transition.
